Why DECA exists

DECA — short for Decarbonisation — is a guide to sustainable alternatives designed to help everyone reduce their personal carbon footprint by acting on daily choices: where to eat, where to sleep, where to shop, and how to travel without flying.

The project today lists more than 490 verified vegan and organic restaurants, including around twenty Michelin-starred establishments, hundreds of eco-certified accommodations, and a world ranking of 228 countries by per-capita carbon footprint.

The initiative is part of the Decarmiens movement — the 1.09 billion people already living under 2 tCO₂/year, the target set by international climate agreements (IPCC). An annual ceremony rewards the best alternatives, a community forum fosters mutual support, and a night train planner helps design flight-free journeys.
